A Vision Rooted in Compassion
Janus Communities was created out of both necessity and love. When The Village at Stoney Glen faced uncertainty, a group of dedicated individuals came together to ensure that its residents—many of whom had lived there for years—could continue to call it home. This was not just about preserving a building; it was about preserving lives, friendships, and stability for the people who depended on it.
Through Janus Transitions Inc., we took ownership of Stoney Glen Manor, determined to transform it into a model community for inclusive living. But our vision extends far beyond just maintaining the status quo. We are reimagining what assisted living can be, with a focus on holistic well-being, independence, and meaningful engagement.
Overcoming Challenges and Embracing Growth
The journey has not been without challenges. In 2024, Hurricane Beryl brought unexpected damage, forcing us to undertake significant renovations to ensure the safety and comfort of our residents. Despite these obstacles, our team persevered.
With the support of donors, volunteers, and community partners, we were able to repair leaks, improve facilities, and move forward with plans to enhance the living spaces at Stoney Glen Manor. Each challenge we have faced has only strengthened our commitment to building a sustainable, resident-centered community.
Expanding Our Reach and Financial Stability
To ensure long-term financial sustainability, we have introduced a private-pay residency model while continuing to serve individuals with special needs. This approach allows us to provide high-quality care, maintain operations, and invest in improvements that directly benefit our residents.
We are also fostering strategic partnerships to strengthen our impact. Our developing relationship with Brookwood Community, a well-respected organization dedicated to serving adults with disabilities, will allow us to reach more families and provide exceptional care in a supportive, vibrant environment.
These efforts are laying the foundation for a thriving, inclusive community—one that will serve individuals for generations to come.
